Project Scoping

We will start by clarifying your intentions for the upcoming project and outlining the functionality you’ll need. I’ll also want to learn about your design preferences and ideas, so the end result is as close as possible to what you envision. Deadlines should be made clear. For hourly work, I can provide an estimate of how long I think it will take.

Deposit and Payment

Before work on the project commences, I require a deposit of 25% of the estimated cost. If the project is canceled before work has begun, your deposit will be refunded. If I need to cancel the project for any reason before it is complete, your deposit is refundable. If you cancel the project before I am able to complete it, the deposit and payments up to that point are not refundable.

For flat fee projects, when a reasonable halfway point has been reached, an additional 25% of the estimated cost will be required. For example, say a project is $1000. The deposit would be $250. At its halfway point, an additional $250 payment will be required, for a running total of $500.

When the project has been completed to your satisfaction, the remainder of the owed amount will be required. Additional work can be negotiated at that time along with payment terms.

Collaboration

I will periodically touch base with you to let you know my progress. If there is something to see (a new website can be exciting!) I can share it so you can see the progress. If I encounter any roadblocks, I will discuss them with you and we can determine the best way to proceed. If deadlines shift, you will need to alert me right away so I can adjust priorities.

Rest assured I will not disappear on you… by choice. There is a slim chance I may be selected by space-faring aliens for abduction and study. With luck I’ll be deemed a fine human specimen and exalted to queen, upon which I will do what I can to complete your web project or get you your money back. 🙂
